Then I have to make about 14 steps to the kitchen, to take the coffee, and then take it back to my chair which I passed along the way. Then I sit and have some rest from all the commotion.

They have expectations, I work hard to meet them and they do not worry about whether I am getting a sandwich or checking out CNN during the day. I miss having nearby coworkers some - wait. No I don't. :-D I've got some cats that visit me during the day and that works just fine. I do go out to lunch every couple weeks with some people from companies-past, but that's on my schedule.

>I once took a contract that involved 3 hours driving every day. It was 6 weeks with another 6 weeks extension. Every day I drove there worked a full day and didn't need to speak to anyone while I was there. I asked about doing some off site work and they said "Oh no " so when it came to extending for another 6 weeks I said "Oh no". They implied that the extra six weeks was an obligation but it wasn't in writing so I wasn't obliged.

I had a couple long-distance contracts. One in Richmond, VA and another in Roanoke, VA. Three hours one way. Sometimes I stayed there for the week and sometimes I drove daily. Really a pain, but I needed the work. I probably could have done most of the work at one place remotely, but the other would have been harder. Unfortunately, they were both they type of company that would not allow that.
