BTW, British for "trash cans" is "dustbins" (from the days when practically the only household waste was ash from the fireplaces).

We rarely see galvo iron bins out in the street nowadays (soooo lowering the tone ...) - people just put their black bin-liners out, or have the large square wheeliebins.
