Thanks Marcia and everyone. I think I know what the problem was and of course it has nothing to do with the compiler. Let's call it a human error.

For my insert statement I copied the original select statement and I think in the

INSERT INTO (Field1, Field2, etc.) line I may have left something like

INSERT INTO (Field1, Field2, Field3 NewName) .

We looked together at this line yesterday and didn't see it, but I'm almost certain that's what happened. If I would have a minute today I'll fix this.
