Hi Mike,

Good to "hear" from you (although it's email). I ended up with some kind of 48-hour virus on Monday through Tuesday and was quite weak; I feel eprfectly fine now. Weird, isn't it?

We could see the very large flames from the fires from our 2nd story windows. Pretty scary stuff, believe me. We live in San Bernardino County and Riverside county is just south of us. Some of our friends were very concerned about their homes in Diamond Bar.

I will do some training in either ColdFusion (by Adobe) or possibly PHP with MySQL. It has been difficult for me to want to leave VFP when it has been literally the best tool on the market for database development. I am a very enthusiastic supporter of VFP. If only someone could buy it from Microsoft. Hmmm,...not a bad idea. I've got $20.00 to start.

>Sorry to hear that. I hope something turns up for you quickly.

>Are you using the downtime to learn some new skills? These days there are tons of free developer tools and learning materials on the internet. As you indicate, it has become tougher and tougher to find work when VFP is the only skill you are selling. Lots of the VFP hits you get on job boards turn out to be for legacy systems that are being rewritten. Light another candle or curse the darkness, as they say.

>Are those wildfires anywhere near you? I thought they were in the more rural (easterly) parts of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, but haven't read about them in detail.
