>>He's cost us far too much already. Off with his head and be done with it. If they need help doing it, give me a call.

>As usual, you mischaracterize my views. I have no problem putting real criminals in jail, if they're properly tried and convicted. (Process matters.) I do object to the state killing anyone in my name, no matter how much that person might deserve it.

Take your name off the list and put mine on twice. Then off with his head!

>I also think that jailing young people for minor offenses is likely to lead to a tremendous waste of human resources and that in many cases, we'd be better off trying to rehabilitate and educate. IOW, I think the justice system should be about justice, not about retribution.

If young people haven't been taught decency and respect by the time they are of jailable age, then rehab isn't going to do much but waste $$ on someone who will continue to be a problem.

If parents took the time to teach decency, respect, and CONSEQUENCES of not showing either of the former, then young people wouldn't grow up to be the mindless, immoral ba$turds we've seen in the last couple of decades.

FWIW even my oldest stepson (22 years) knows that he'll feel consequences from me if he doesn't show a reasonable amount of decency and respect.

He's very well respected by friends, teachers, and family alike. Not that he hasn't done some stupid things over the years, but he does have a conscience that drives him.
