I had a support call today for a VFP application that was written by someone else. I have not had the opportunity to review the source code on this. I believe the application is written in VFP8. The behavior was demonstrated to me when running under Windows Server 2008 but it also happens on Vista.

The application has a Word mail merge feature that appears to be started via automation. The application works as expected when the administrator runs the application. When a user other than administrator runs the application an error occurs. The error is "OLE cannot find object" (sorry I forgot to get the exact error message). If the application is run 'as administrator' it works but the user is forced to enter the admin credentials.

I'm guessing that this has something to do with the UAC.

Is there something short of 'run as admin' that will allow VFP to start Word?
