My company, that I founded and owned, was the main systems contractor to the suppliers of gift shops for a lot of cruise ships. Since I doubled as both the owner and head technology officer I frequently went shipboard for days, sometimes weeks, at a time to make sure everything worked right on the POSs and inventory systems.

As such, I found myself aboard the lesbian cruise to reconcile a really bad situation since the ship was built in 1930 and we had no network wiring capabilities.

Fun? No. In my position I was classified a "supernumery (sp?)" where I ate with and was generally treated as a passenger.

I got hostile stares and the cold shoulder the whole time. I made one friend who I stuck to like glue but the reaction from the rest was negative. But, who could blame them? They spent their money to be amongst like-minded and a guy like me is an imposition. I was the "enemy" even though I tried really hard to fit into the shadows.

It was a very weird cruise.

>(I think I remember you did some programming for a cruise ship line).

>My former in-laws went on a cruise several years ago. My father-in-law said the captain talked about the buffets when he greeted the passengers. He said, "Here we don't eat until we're full, we eat until we're tired."

>>As a seasoned veteran of cruise ships, I always spot stuff like that (lol)
>>
>>And you don't see too many nasty bodies at poolside on these ships as they're indoors feeding their face at a buffet. The major exception to this that I can recall was a lesbian cruise out of ports in Brazil...it was a meat market and lean was rare.

>>>How'd you manage to spot that? <g>
>>>
>>>But I want to know why this ship is populated only with people in decent shape? Anytime I've ever been to the beach or pool, there has always been an overabundance of women in bikinis and men in Speedos who should never have been allowed out in public in skimpy bathing suits, if you know what I mean. <g>
