I know this sounds like heresy, but I DO NOT run AV software on either my laptop or desktop. It was actually Rick Strahl who convinced me to give it a try. If you have a good firewall and don't open suspicious emails, why take the huge performance hit every AV package causes? I've been running AV-free for two years with no problems.
