Hi, Peter. Private vs. Default Datasession is really not a "right-or-wrong" kind of issue. It depends on what you need (and expect < g >). For instance, all (99%) my forms and reports use private data sessions. This means that I always use the dataenvironment (sometimes programmatically and sometimes visually) to open and close tables and views. Since I use private datasessions no form or report cares what any other report or form does with _it's_ own tables.
But, to answer your question. Yes, you can open all your tables and views, set up relations, etc. at the beginning of your application and append, delete, and edit. Were you having a problem doing so? If so, what?
>Thanks, that helps already, but is it enough to click the menu choice for private datasession off in the report screen? Is there a code procedure I can put in the .PRG to open the dataenvironment for the whole application and still be able to append?
