>Hey Terry, probably he was snorting many lines back then, probably he still is, but who cares, and I don't see how that is your business anyways.

>For what is worth, you are very judgemental about Maradona's personal life and "the hand of god", but how about a little housekeeping?

Hi Juan

Being judgmental again, looking at your name, I'd guess that you're a wee bit Latin-biased :-)

>Would you care then to admit how much England was favored during their world cup in 1966 in order to make them win it?
>In 1986, it was a quarter-final game, the referee did not see 'the hand of god', there's actually no pictures or footage that show CLEARLY that he touched the ball with his hand (you can only guess it), so it was definitely a mistake of the referee.

WE'RE all convinced of it. And he's openly admitted it. Besides, there's no reason why his arm should have been up over his head like that during a jump for the ball.

>Speaking about changing the course of a game, in 1966, even Pickles (the dog) saw that Geoff Hurst's second goal did not cross the line, and that was the final game with the score tied 2-2. Not to mention the help provided in the previous games, like refs sending out important opponent players or picking the referees at will; as a Dutch referee said back then, "FIFA is controlled by 3 men: Sir-Stanley-Rous".
>

Did I say anything about that game?

>It seems to me that only England fans/journalists can't talk enough about the first goal in that match and not give due credit to the jewel that was the 2nd goal, which has been recognized by many many experts the best goal of all football (soccer) world cups. It looks like some wounds are still bleeding.... ;)

But like I said, if it hadn't been for that 1st goal, there wouldn't have been a successive kick-off and the whole history of the game - positions of players, etc, would have been different. Like if Hitler had become a famous artist back in the '30s maybe the War wouldn't have happened.

>Not that there haven't been other beautiful goals out there, but the circumstances made it special. There was England on the other side, back then still a world power in soccer and candidate to the title, with one of the best teams of that world cup.

>On a colorful note, during the recent test match Argentina-Scotland I was surprised to see on TV how much Scottish soccer fans love Maradona because of that game.

With the Jocks it's sour grapes. Cos they never do any good in the World Cup, and their inherent animosity to England, they delight in anything that does England down - so to them M would be a hero.
