>Yes, I'm familiar with them ... I assume you're talking about Van's RV planes. We have a friend in Seattle who has one. And my nephew, who's only about 20 I think and has been flying since he was maybe 16 or so, wants to build one of those "one of these days".

Yup, I have an RV-6 two place side by side 200 mph cruise. Great traveling plane.

>Gary just bought the Arrow this year, in April. He bought it from a guy in Connecticut, so he had to fly it all the way back home. His flight instructor went with him, just for fun. It took them three days. He didn't need to have his instructor along (he already had his private pilot cert, but was still studying for his instrument rating, which he got in early August), but Craig said that he always wanted to fly clear across the country, so Gary invited him along.

Great adventures. I can be from Texas back to Oregon in 9 hours, San Diego in 7 or Florida in 4 1/2.

>First time I ever saw an airpark was in Sun River, OR just this year. I thought it was so cool. Sun River's nice because it's paved and has instrument approaches. And the houses are way cool.

I lived in Oregon about 30 years and most of the time in Bend. In my previous life I was an electrician (Electrical Contractor) and I probably wired about 1000 houses in Sun River. I still have two good friends, retired airline captains, that live at Sun River airpark section.

>Very nice ... a lake and everything! I'm jealous! We were looking for houses to buy here in Hillsboro (still in a furnished apartment, the company's paying for it for a few more months) ... anyway, there was a mini-airpark nearby that we looked at briefly ... but, like your place, it only had a grass strip. The Arrow really does prefer something paved. <g>

I don't really mind the grass strip. We have another person here with an Arrow that has been here 17 years. Problem is I would never be able to afford to live at an expensive airpark like the one in Sun River. This one is just right for me and the lake is a bonus. I don't fish, but the view is sure nice.
Take care, and happy flying. If your company ever expands to Texas, you could fly down and check out the airpark.
