Aye, but he lives in Bulgaria and speaks, presumably, Bulgarian all day. I presume you don't work with a bunch of Ukranians. Even if he does speak English with his colleagues, that doesn't mean he writes it too. :-)
OTOH, "Bytes" IS a mainstay and fundamental element of computing so the daft bugger should have got it right! :-)
BTW, in my s/w engineering days we used to manipulate 4-bit chunks of data - called "nybbles"
