>>The T shirt bet I had with John K. over the election worked out pretty well. Want to make the same bet on the BCS game, Oklahoma over or under 28 points? This is a pretty good bet for you -- even if you lose, you don't have to pay up! LOL

>>Lots of news coming out of Illinois this week. Yesterday the Tribune filed for chapter 11, which was not completely shocking but still a surprise. (A buddy at the Trib says they could have made the $70 million payment that was due yesterday but decided filing for bankruptcy protection was a better way. Sam Zell has them so buried in debt they would be having a hard time even if they weren't in a dying industry and the economy wasn't in the toilet). Now today I see the feds have arrested Governor Blagojevich. Again, no great shock, because he has been as corrupt as any of his Republican predecessors and it had already been reported that the feds have some serious stuff on him. But arresting a sitting governor? You don't see that every day. I have a feeling it has something to do with the naming of Obama's successor as Senator. There have been rumblings that Gov. Rod has been doing the pay-to-play game with that as well, so I can understand the feds wanting to stop that from happening.

There sure has. At least three or four ex-governors of Illinois went to prison. George Ryan is sitting in the hoosegow even as we speak. Rod being arrested while still in office, though, that may be a new low.

What's going to be interesting is how Blago is prevented from naming the new Senator. The law says it's his call unless he has been convicted of a felony, which could easily be a year or more away. I have to believe that somehow, some way, he will be stopped from doing so under the circumstances. What I don't know how is how Obama's successor will be named. You can't just leave the seat vacant. This is truly uncharted territory AFAIK.
