I agree with Jim though, it's really an issue of why you have to worry about this at all. At some point every app needs to make some assumptions about the environment it's running under.

I've kept my number of classlibs down to prevent having to worry about this. I have my ccontrol.vcx which is the foundation of everything, an AppSpecific.vcx which derives from ccontrol.vcx most things used within the app, a dfregistry.vcx which is used all over and dfmapi.vcx class for apps that have builtin email support.
