>>>Oho! I will defend VW with the zealotry of any German. My car is a VW Jetta which I have had for just over 5 years, nearing 60,000 miles. I have never put that many miles on any car. It isn't the performance monster the Corvettes I had in my heyday were but it has plenty of pep. Gets 30 miles a gallon like a metronome, and that's mostly local driving. Everything about it is solid and well thought out. Would I buy another one or recommend it? You betcha.

Don't know, but when I got rid of my Golf diesel (now I have a VW Cabrio), it had almost 750,000 km (about 470,000 miles) and would have run forever if the body wasn't disintegrating around me.

My friend Lynn has had a couple of Jettas and she drives a lot. They just keep running and running.

I expect I will always own VWs.
