Tim,
Easy way to work with such custom combo or any other control for usage in grid (IMHO):
-Drop one on form
-Write codes if any, before moving to grid
-Select the control and cut with Ctrl+X
-Ctrl+Click grid
-Select desired column
-Ctrl+V to paste
