Hi all.

Ok ok, it's a real beginners question. I cannot live without it, and it will be next little step up the .NET-staircase.

I'm in the VS2008 environment, I want to subclass ASP-textboxes, pages, comboboxes etc.

1. I don't know how to do it. There is a section devoted to making an ASP- subclass (How do I...) and it's description and steps are quite clear, but doesn't deliver: I first take the steps it takes to make a subclass based on a textbox, which creates a new .aspx-file. Then, I do:

a. In Visual Web Developer, open the Web page to which you want to add the ASP.NET user control.

b. Switch to Design view.

c.Select your custom user control file in Solution Explorer, and drag it onto the page.

What happens is that I get a html reference in my page whose properties having nothing to do with a textbox.
It must be very simple. But I miss the point somewhere.

2. I don't want my subclasses in the soluton explorer. I want them at the left-hand side, in the toolbox, in a separate section called something like "My Classes".

Hope you can help me. TIA,

Lennert
