Hi,

I need to retrieve MEMO field from a table that has long field names. The table was created by some other software and when they (that software) created .DBF/.DBT table it made field names longer than 10 char. Therefore, when I try to open the table in VFP I get message "Duplicate field name". I tried to access the table using ODBC but to no avail.

Now I am thinking that maybe a way to do it is to change the field names by hacking the .DBF file. Aren't the field names contained in the header of the .DBF? What tool would I use to hack the .DBF table? What is the structure of the header of .DBF as far as field names?

Any other suggestions?
