Is there a way to force VFP to go back to the underlying data for a SQL-SELECT rather than using its cache?

In a form, before saving a row, I have to check values in other rows of the same table to see if a value in a certain column has changed since the form opened. The problem is that VFP apparently has the data in its cache so it never goes back to the original data. I tried USE AGAIN but this just used the old (cached) data. I cannot close the table and reopen it because it is the primary table for this form. TIA.
