Replacing the documents after they've been deleted isn't hard. They don't change often (although were modified in the last couple of days!) and are in every backup. There is actually a batch file to copy them back into place. The real problem is the inconvenience it causes everyone on the network when some idiot deletes them. People can't continue to work without the documents so they must wait until the restore is complete--and the restore can only be done by an administrator.

It would be best if we could protect the directory in such a way that users couldn't 1) add new files to it, 2) copy the existing files from it, 3) delete any files, or 4) open the documents interactively using Word. All of those tasks should be limited to system administrators. It sounds like we just need to revoked the user's rights to the directory, but then the application wouldn't work either. The application needs to be able to read, copy, edit and print under program control. Plus there is the issue of the 2 'custom' documents that the user IS allowed to edit interactively and to save (preferrably only in their personal directory, not just anywhere they choose.)
