David: The following is a quote from HELP on Clear Events:
Stops event processing started with READ EVENTS. When CLEAR EVENTS is executed, program execution continues on the program line immediately following READ EVENTS.
You will need a QUIT command to exit your EXE unless the code after your READ EVENTS takes care of it. And even that won't work if you have open transactions, dirty buffers, etc.
