When VFP open a dbf file , requires a file handle to the operating system,
OS then stops every operation that can handle inconsistent ( delete, rename, ... )

One exception is "chkdsk /f"
that may force's OS to free all handles assigned ...
With it you can open the dbf,
chkdsk /f the dbf's volume,
and cancel the table that VFP has open ...

Each file open in shared writing can be corrupted ...
This is not a limit of VFP.

To avoid this,
need a monitor (similar to the antivirus for malware),
which controls every write to a file does not ruin its structure.
Madness!
