This is truly shocking. Ceil was one of the real bright spots in this - or any - community and I considered her a real friend. I had thought that the cancer was under control but I'd been out of touch with her for 6 months or so.

Whenever you might have an address for her daughter or any more details I'd appreciate it.

Let us not mourn that such are gone but rather be grateful such have lived.

>I'm saddened to report the death of Ceil Silver (formerly known as Ceil Rosenfeld) on January 3, 2009. Ceil was a former MVP and widely known in the VFP community for her years as co-editor of the Tips and Tricks column in FoxPro Advisor, as well as her long-term involvement with the Westchester chapter of PADD (the Professional Association of Database Developers).

>There will be a memorial service for her on Thursday, January 8 in Westchester County, NY. I don't yet have all the details, but will add to this thread when I do.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
