I am trying to scan barcodes that have been generated from my vfp app, but having difficulty:

I'm using the VFP label designer. I have installed a number of different bar code fonts, including:

free 3 of 9 downloaded from web, IDautomation3of9 free trial, idautomationcode128free trial, a few others.

I know the issues in using 3 of 9 and code128. For 3of9 I know to prepend and append * to my data. For 128, I have code to generate start, stop and checkdigit.

If I go into wordpad and paste my data into wordpad, then print from there to either a) my hp laser jet or b) zebra stripe 600
everything prints fine, and when I scan those printed barcodes, the scanner reads the barcodes just fine.

However, when I print from VFP, the scanner won't read those barcodes. I have tried all sorts of different fontsizes.
I have noticed that when I print the same data, with the same fontsize, same font from the vfp label designer, the data looks much shorter than what I am getting when I print from wordpad. It looks like the data is getting truncated, yet the label object is plenty long enough to print the data.

I have tried leaving in, and taking out, the data in expr and tag1 and tag2 - no help.

The data looks like this, for example, *A2123456789001* (for 3 of 9)

The scanner is a motorola/symbol mc3090.

I am considering going to Crystal Reports, if it turns out to be easier and/or more reliable. I see that there too I have other issues.. looks like I need a 'UFL'

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
