The Higgs boson proves nothing; it's just a catch-all particle that makes things simple for physicists. Man, I'd love for that particle to be proven with all it's supposed properties but something tells me that it's not that simple. Think about the flurry of junk about the quark in the 70's as opposed to the reality.
