Good one!
I come from the city of Brighton & Hove, originally 2 towns abutting on the S coast. The west, Hove end is very snobbish and, as brighton is best known, when people ask them if they're from Brighton they say, "No, Hove actually". This has become a derisive cliche.
Check out how many citations:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=hove+actually&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-aI live in the quieter east end of the city, in Kemptown. One of the pubs there had "No, Kemptown actually" T-shirts made as a skit.
Oh, and another cliche that REALLY bugs me is when someone is surprised and they say "I'm literally speechless" and then go on to gab incessantly (quite often about how they're still literally speechless).
- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
