Perhaps bookmarks in the document? Something like:

*-- cPicturePath = 'c:\myPicture.jpg'
*-- oDoc oWord.ActiveDocument

oBook = oDoc.Bookmarks("PictureBook")
oRange = oBook.RANGE()
