David Letterman has a regular short feature on his show called "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches." They consist of video clips of American presidents uttering now-famous quotations, followed by Dubya stumbling over something or other. Sometimes it's a mispronunciation or the wrong word. Often he just gets lost in mid-thought, can't remember what he meant to say, and stops completely. Dave has been getting practically misty-eyed introducing these segments lately. "We're down to a precious few," he'll say. And I'm sure that as a late night comedian he really is going to be sorry to see Dubya go.
There was a really funny one the other night, more visual than auditory. Dubya was saying "Sometimes the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing." Except when he said left hand he gestured with his right hand, and vice versa.
