That is a busy WWC site.

Yeah it's busy- though the processor is at < 10% serving 200 hits/second with much of the efficiency down to local caching of persistent indexable datasets- the same caching that is screwing us up now! ;-).

Out of curiosity, are you seeing large numbers of tmp files left in the temp folders... over the course of a few days?

Good question. It used to be said that temp folders overflowing with files could cause this error under Win2000 but I had understood it was better in XP/2003Server. But well worth checking and deleting files anyway. thanks!

The other reported cause was the infamous trouble caused by norton antivirus... maybe this is a variant of that? I'll check whether they've got a virus checker running on the server.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
