Ever since Doors of Perception led to one of my first "Oh wow" moments I've been a Huxley fan. As you probably know, when he was dying (same day JFK was shot) he had Laura shoot him up with a rocketship dose of Sandoz phamaucutical acid.

If I am *not* shot on my 100th birthday by an enraged father catching me with his 18 year old twin daughters, that's how I want to go. ( It's in my living will )

Although Orwell was right about many things he was wrong, argues Postman, about needing to fear the state. It was Huxley who foresaw that it was the mind numbing apparatus of mass-media that would turn us all into sheep.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
