>In the first mentioned, it is speculated that the officer was reaching for his taser and unfortunately drew his pistol instead. Legal action against him is pending. I don't know anything of second incident. I happened to be down in the Bay Area all last week on business, and this was the top news story. I happened to mention that "theory"(mistook the real gun for the taser) and was told by several colleagues, with prior police backgrounds, that that was simply impossible. Apparently the trigger on a taser isn't even close to being the same as the trigger of a gun. I don't know anything about tasers, so I can't comment ... but this is what they told me.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/01/08/BART.shooting/index.html>>This one is all over the news and there are a bunch of videos of the event - guy on the ground on his stomach, unarmed - one cop has his knee in his back and another one shoots him in the back. Why is this guy not in jail?

http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/01/09/new.orleans.shooting/index.html>>And then there is this guy - who gets shot 14 times - 12 IN THE BACK. No one caught this one on video, so the cops say he shot at them first - although the guy has no criminal history at all. I dunno, sounds fishy too me - that's a lot of times to be shot - and mostly in the back?
