That won't work in this case, because the SQL statement can include fields from a number of tables, e.g. SELE Names.last, Events.item, Orderl.quantity ... and my method tries to instantiate a class based on the table name plus an extension. So in this case, I have built query by classes called Namessel and Eventssel, but not for Orderl (a line item table). Searching the .vcx file seems to be working for me and it sounds like substituting a local error routine for the global would also do the trick.
