I think I would try setting that value to a very high number, rather than 0, and see if it makes it past the 8 minute mark. I had similar problems in SQL Server Management Studio 2005 with timeouts (one doing a restore, another changing the structure of a table), and set 2 different timeout values to 1200 seconds. That did the trick.

You may also want to make sure you have enough disk space, and have disabled any anti-virus software. I ran into a problem with ZoneAlarm's on-access scanning feature and Visual Studio 2005.
