>Last Christmas we outfitted my daughter's car with stereo equipment from there and this past year I got a great deal on an HDTV from Circuit City.
Yeah, I saw that in the news. You could see it coming. I still don't know exactly how it happened, because Circuit City and Best Buy used to seem very similar. But for whatever reason CC's traffic continued to dwindle until it became a downward death spiral. And nobody is being bailed out in today's lending environment. (As in, we're not lending money to nobody. Even beneficiaries of the bailout are not lending, which was the whole idea). Several major chains like Linens'n'Things went under last year and all predictions are many more will follow them this year.
I am not that worried about Best Buy using this as an opportunity to jack up prices. They have lots of competition in all departments, including online retailers like Amazon.
