>>>I went to an AA meeting today and felt the same thing, with the same intensity, about myself. I can beat this. Anything is possible.

>You're being funny but in fact I am getting involved in some volunteer work. I was doing a lot of that when I lived in Evanston and have let it lapse since moving up here to Near Canada. But there are people who can use a helping hand here, too. I let a good instinct in me lapse and it feels good to get it back.

Actually, no, I was not being funny. I didn't even get the joke until just now when I read your response. I meant it Mike. You CAN do it. (Perhaps I should have chosen different words -- too much media for me lately I guess since that phrase was the first one to pop into my head :o).

Also, I think the phrase is embedded in everyone's conciousness. If the media (or a campaign) is going to program the public, at least it was done using a positive message. Not a bad phrase to repeat and believe. It is more prevalent than the phrase 'Go for it' these days.

Even with the "recession," there is a tremendous sense of hope and unity in this country right now that has not existed for years and it is a wondrous thing to see.

I think almost everyone in this country has great hope in our President. I'm also pragmatic though and know how limited the powers of the office can be as well. If he doesn't accomplish everything he campaigned on, he will take the full blame, while it will more likely be a blame that should fall on our house and senate. He really has to get the 'far-left' on his side and that means his own folks in congress may be his greatest stumbling block to getting things done.
