Sure it can.....but I think you're looking at VFP as *part* of a strategic solution....I maintain a very similar application and the architecture that has worked is to have the physical card-reader gather data and have that data intercepted by a Visual C++ program which passes them off to a SQL Server table. A monitor front-end for determining who is where and historical facts could be created in VFP reading the SQL Server data via frequently refreshed views.
