First, congrats to both of you.
As for your question, you still have the responsability to raise them. By decent standard of living, I'm sure that Tamar doesn't include a cell phone, the latest XBox and a car. To me it means that the child won't go to school on an empty stomach, that he/she will have access to free health care and education.
You showed that you are a responsible couple by waiting for the right time to have your baby and I'm sure that's what the majority of couples wants. But accidents happens. Does the child need to pay for that accident? Having a baby is not only a matter of money. Will you prevent a poor couple to have a child even if they desperatly want one?
Even if they were OK financially at the moment of conceiption, you never know what the future will be like. They may have some bad lucks after their baby is born (lay-off, handicaped child, etc.)
>As you might have heard, my wife and I are expecting. This was a calculated decision for us, as we wanted to make sure we were in the right place financially. If all children are entitled to a decent standard of living no matter what, what is keeping us from popping out several children? Heck, the responsibility isn't on us.
