>>>>>>>You do not have a right to keep every penny in any civilized society. You think you do? Name one.

>>>>>>>We have been around this block before. I have no problem paying taxes to provide police protection, fire departments, roads, street lighting, etc. I benefit from this stuff, so I will pay for it. What I do have a problem with is having the government take my hard-earned money and give it to the deadbeat in front of me in the line at the grocery store buying T-bone steaks with food stamps and riding home in her BMW.
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>You do not have a right to any of my money, Mike. Instead of counting other people's money, why don't you go out and earn some of your own? Then you can give as much of it away as you want to. But you do not have the right to give my money away.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>The government has the right to tax you and waste your money on stupid things like fighting a total useless war.
>>>>>
>>>>>I think you're making her arguement. Think about it. No tax means government has no money for waging "useless" war. What a great idea.
>>>>
>>>>Sure, if that is what you want.
>>>
>>>Lesson being that the less they have of our money, the less "useless" things they'll do.
>>
>>And less useful things like maintenance on infrastructure, militairy defences, police, firefighters, perhaps even universal healthcare.
>>People thend to focus on the negatives while a government is there for a good reason. To establish things that cannot be done by the individual.

>That's a really grand statement.
>That's not what I meant. Either you're a complete moron or you don't understand the English language. Why can't you understand that we all know certain amount of tax is neccessary.

??? whatever you want to conclude...

The problem is that there is need for a governement. If it is too small it will not be able to cope with things that are neccesary. If it is too big it might be too expensive and cause other problems. Paying less taxes means the government cannot be as big as neccesary or the government has to get its money elsewhere (From china, Saudi Arabia, etc) to accomplish the goals they have set for themselves. Paying taxes are meant to fund the government for what they want to do. Unfortunately the Bush administration made a real mess of the financial debt and of course did not have the backbone to increase taxes when it was wise to do.

It seems to me, that you all think that money grows on trees and taxes are only there to annoy you, but the fact of the manner is that the american people have been living way, way above what they could afford and got tax-cut on tax-cuts. And who did benefit from that ? Not the poor and the middle class. Mainly the ones who already had enough. And now you get the bill. You're asking the american government to sell more and more of the US to china. In the short term, lowering taxes might be a legitimate anser to fight the financial crisis, but on the long term, you'll pay the bill for that. China is not going to fund you forever.

So if the taxes go up, I don't have any doubt that Obama has a consulted the best economist for the sake of the country.
