FWIW, in Judaism, charity is considered more honorable when neither the donor nor the recipient knows who the other one is. I'm not beating my chest about it, but I'm also get tired of hearing all the crap about greedy people, blah blah blah. It's like the sounds of adults in the Charlie Brown cartoons....all you hear is sound ("mwhaw, mwhaw, mwhaw") but no sense.
This country would be significantly better off if we took much (not all) of the concept of "welfare" out of the hands of government, and if every capable person simply helped out one person who needed help.
I teach fulltime and I'm essentially devoting my life to it (read, 7 days a week), and I'm damn proud of it. So anyone (present company may be excluded...or not) who thinks pride is wrong can go kiss off.
