What about the parents loosing their jobs and not capable of finding a new one? (for whatever reason) Or having an unpredictable major financial problem? Do they need to give up their child(s) to adoption? Would you?

I do not have children so I cannot answer that. My friend, Carolyn, makes joke to her children that Andy and I only like children with ketchup on them {g}. Actually, I like children when they are someone else's because when they get cranky I can give them back to their parents. I am not against having a temporary stop gap type of relief available for such circumstances. Unemployment insurance lasts for 3 months, so someone who loses a job should be able to find something within that time frame. A quick search on monster.com in Akron, Ohio (and we are one of the hard-hit areas in the country with respect to unemployemt) yields 859 jobs, so someone who really wants to work should be able to find something. Unpredictable financial problems can happen to everyone - that is why the responsible thing to do is to put something away in a savings account (however little) each paycheck. That's what I did - even when I was making minimum wage.

The thing that I am against is people who make living on the dole a lifelong experience.

That's called education and that's why every children should have free access to it.

In this country, all children have access to free public education and I do not have a problem paying taxes for that because the children are the future.
