Assuming that y'all are keeping Closed Dates and Open Dates on Accounts, it's easy to figure out what accounts were open on a specific date. An account is either open or closed.

Somewhere there has to be code to handle each specific type. Find that code and reverse the operation. if addition, subtract; if subtraction, add
