>>I want the new HTC Touch Pro (perhaps the one you mean?) - has the 640x480 screen and has a video-out feature, the pull out keyboard too. I actually had one for a few days but I was trying to use it on a non-sprint carrier here on the islands and they screwed it up. I've had my HTC PPC 6700 (sprint Apache) for a while now - but it doesn't have EVDO REV A, just EVDO so not nearly as fast of a connection as the Mogul or the new HTC Touch Pro. Anyway - I'm going to get another Touch Pro and just keep it on the Sprint network this time....

>(yeah, the HTC Touch Pro; dang, the naming of these is confusing). The pull out keyboard is a must - the normal Touch would make me nuts. I'll probably stick with this one another year until my current contract is up, then see what's available. Unfortunately Sprint's SERO plan isn't quite the bargain it used to be. I can get a dirt cheap plan from work but I kind of like not being tied to them for some of this stuff.

They've got a decent network if you need to travel a lot (outside of the US), but the data plan - not so much. Sprint & Verizon do a better job there. And since AT&T is GSM getting it unlocked doesn't help much.

I like the iPhone's screen because it's a decent size - but like you said the lack of a keyboard is a deal-killer for me - plus I like being able to run the zillions of windows mobile programs that are avail. Sprint does seem to have the best service plans right now if you aim to use the data much - AT&T's data connections are still too slow and Verizon wants too much money.
Only thing that ticks me off is that now all the carriers seem to be implementing a data limit. You go over 5gig a month and then they start charging you like 2 cents a k!! Personally I don't think 5gig a month is enough. Heck you watch some streaming video, stream some music, and you can eat up 5gig quickly.

Right now the only thing with the HTC Touch Pro that is annoying is that Sprint - in all their infanite wisdom - has disabled the FM radio. Now I'm not sure why they would do such a thing other than to try to get you to buy music from them or try to get you to rack up your bill by streaming music all the time over the internet. Seems like Verizon lost a lawsuit a couple of years ago for selling "crippled" phones so I'm a bit suprised that Sprint would so such a thing. From what I understand Verizon has done the same thing on their version of the phone - AND disabled the built in GPS too! What creeeps! The AT&T version of the phone doesn't have the FM radio application installed - BUT with the GSM versions of the HTC Touch Pro you can install the app and it will work - no such luck on the CDMA versions. Really quite annoying. The guru's at xda-developers.com haven't found a way around it either - so I'm begining to think that there is a part of the hardware that's been disabled...grrrrr
