Yeah, I got a definate "It's time to put on our big-boy pants and go to work, because that's the only way we'll get through this" vibe off his speech. That, and a "we must return to the American ideals that the country was founded upon".

>He's gone now. The historians can argue about his record. (Although I don't think there will be that much argument).

>It's a little disappointing to log on here today, Obama's first full day in office, and see the culture wars back in full swing already. Did some people not listen to his inaugural address or at least read something about it? He did not present himself as a savior. The main thing I got from his speech is that we are facing many serious problems that we will have to work together, sacrifice together, to solve. He believes we can but made it plain there are no easy, painless, quick answers. You almost get the impression some people want to see him fail. That makes no sense to me because it won't be him failing, it will be all of us.

>It was a joyous day but there was no missing the somber parts of his speech. It was much rougher stuff than what he usually says or what most presidents say in their inaugural address.
