I think the exact form of the inaugural oath is specified in the Constitution, which is why Obama and John Roberts had a re-do yesterday following Roberts's minor flub on Tuesday.

However, you may have also noticed that Obama reached out to people of various religious beliefs in his inaugural address, including agnostics.
