http://www.ameshistoricalsociety.org/exhibits/events/rationing.htmMy ma and grandma always talked about the dried egg powder that we got from the States. Some people hated it and some loved it. I saw some demo'd on the telly a few weeks ago (a prog on the wartime diet) and the omelet produced looked quite runny and decidedly unappetizing looking.
The Brits were relatively short people back them (cf USA). I was brought up on loads of steak and meat but, owing to the lack of animal growth hormone in the meat, as today, I only reached 6' 1" (a 6' 1" dad and 5" mum). My bro is shorter than I, with a short wife, yet my nephew is c. 6' 5". My dad married again, to a short woman. My half-bro is c. 6' 3-4".
