To expand on Borislav's reply, I found that I had to make all of the controls bigger to accomodate the average adult fingertip which, unlike the tiny tip of the mouse pointer, is much larger.
One thing that I did not do (would have required too much coding and in the end was not required) is make the window controls at the right side of the titlebar larger. The issue with those is that if your application ever got maximized, trying to select those controls with your finger when they're tucked under the lip of the monitor is a royal PITA. The other thing that you may have to consider is context menus; there is no right clicking with touch screens that I'm aware of.
