What is the recommended way to accomplish the following?

Assume the detail band includes multiple lines, e.g.:
Caption1: Data1
Caption2: Data2
Caption3: Data3
Caption4: Data4

All report objects, including the captions, are field objects.
I want Data2 to stretch with overflow. Whenever it overflows,
I want Caption3, Data3, Caption4 and Data4 to float
downward accordingly.

I suppose one solution is to include a one-pt. rectangle
immediately beneath Caption2, group the rectangle with
Caption2 and Data2, mark the rectangle to stretch downward
to match the tallest object in the group, and make its
forecolor white so that it does not visibly print.

But is that the BEST way to accomplish what I'm
after, or am I missing something obvious?
