Have you ever played with a left/right frames layout of the message area?

I tend to have lots of un-used screen space on the right side of the page in the top frame, and I and CONSTANTLY scrolling both the top and bottom frames.

Seems like a left/right layout option could allow seing more of the tree view of messages in the left pane, and the message content displayed to the right, rather than in a bottom frame.
