When you open Microsoft Excel there is a splash screen. It says 'Excel 2003' or 'Excel 2007'.
If its to quickly for you to see that information you can go to the Help Menu and choose
About Microsoft Office Excel.
If there is no Menu bar with Help is because you are using Microsoft Excel 2007.
