This would work best if:
- Only one user is connected to the database
- The total size of the database is relatively small
Otherwise it would take up forever to close the application and Windows would have a chance of killing the process if the user is shutting down or restarting Windows without closing down your application first.
>Jay, All my applications have a backup form which fires up when they quit the application. I have made a routine to copy all *.dbf,*.fpt and *.cdx files except foxuser.dbf and foxuser.fpt into a temporary folder then I make a zip file using zip creating library for vfp and each zip file has a unique name like 090129123.zip created on the 29th of jan 2009 and nnn time. I have two buttons to backup, one is "Quick backup to hard disk" which creates a zip file in a selected folder on the hard disk and the second button is "Backup to usb MemPen or USB Hard disk". This has been working fine for last 15+ years. Hope this helps.
